Christmas Lights Out? How Holiday Light Repairs Work

It happens. You pull into the driveway one night in December and a whole section of the roofline is dark. Maybe a storm blew through, maybe the dog found a cord, maybe a breaker tripped. Whatever it is, it's the middle of the season and you want your house lit.

Here's the good news. If G3 installed your lights, you're not on your own. Tell us what's happening and we'll take care of it.

What Should I Check Before I Call?

A lot of "the lights are out" calls end up being something simple. Before you request a repair, take two minutes and check these:

  1. The timer. Timers get bumped, unplugged or reset after a power blip. Make sure it's on and set to the right time.
  2. The GFCI outlet. Outdoor outlets are GFCI protected, and they trip when they get wet. Find the outlet (or the GFCI in the garage or a bathroom it's tied to) and press reset.
  3. The breaker. If the GFCI won't reset, check your panel for a tripped breaker.
  4. The plug connections. Look for a cord that got pulled loose by wind, pets or a lawn crew.

Safety first: don't climb up on the roof to look. That's our job. And if anything looks scorched, melted or smells like burning, unplug it and call us.

How Do I Request a Holiday Light Repair?

If those checks don't fix it, let us know. You can reach us through the Christmas Lights Client Login on our website or call the office. The more you tell us, the faster we can get it fixed:

  • What's out (the whole house, one side, one strand, a tree)
  • When you noticed it
  • Whether there was weather or anything else going on
  • A photo or a short video, if you can grab one from the ground

Take lots of video. It helps the crew show up with the right parts and know exactly where to look.

What Usually Causes Lights to Go Out?

In North Texas, the usual suspects are:

  • Wind. Our fronts come through hard. A gust can pull a connection apart or knock a strand loose.
  • Rain and moisture. Water in a connection or an outlet trips the GFCI.
  • Critters. Squirrels and birds will chew or pull on just about anything.
  • Bumps and tugs. Somebody hangs a wreath, moves a ladder or yanks a cord from the wrong end.
  • A bad bulb or socket. Commercial-grade C9 LEDs hold up well, but any part can fail.

Does the Warranty Cover Repairs?

Our work is backed by a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed isn't working the way it should because of how it was installed, that's on us. Other things, like storm damage or a cord the dog chewed, we'll talk through with you. Either way, we'll be straight with you about what happened.

Why Does It Matter Who Installed My Lights?

When you hire a crew that disappears after install day, you're stuck when something goes wrong. Construction shouldn't feel transactional, and neither should Christmas lights. We care about the relationship, so when something goes wrong, it changes how we respond. We want you proud of your house all season, not just the first night.

That's also why we custom fit and hide wires carefully. A clean install has fewer loose ends to fail. Read more on how we do it in our guide to Christmas light installation in North Texas.

Can You Fix Lights Somebody Else Installed?

Ask us. We'll help you understand what we can do. Sometimes it's a quick fix. Sometimes the original install is the problem, like nails through shingles or strands that don't fit the roofline, and we'll tell you that honestly. You can also read client reviews of our holiday lighting crew.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get on the roof to check a strand?

No. Check the timer, GFCI and breaker from the ground, then call us.

How do I send photos?

Through your Christmas Lights Client Login or by text or email when you call the office.

What if a section is flickering?

That's often a loose or wet connection. Unplug that section and let us know.

Do you handle repairs after the season?

We take down and pack your lights into a storage bin after the season. If something isn't working, tell us so we can sort it out before next year.

If your lights are out, don't sweat it. Tell us what's happening through the client login, visit our lighting page or call (945) 300-9018. We'll get your house glowing again.
