Be Grateful

As part of our guiding principle to be grateful, we are always looking for opportunities to pay it forward. From local charity and organization sponsorships, to organizations who serve those with disabilities and who provide assistance in natural disasters, we commit to contributing at least 10% of our earnings to pay it forward to our communities.

Be Generous

We have designed marketing and maintenance plans specifically to add value and take care of each of our client’s needs.

Our marketing plan pays you for your efforts in promoting our business. We don’t pay for Google clicks, mailers, or door knockers, we pay you. What makes it even easier is that we are confident that you would recommend us regardless of the marketing plan due to our transparency, education, quality of work, and generosity. We thank you in advance for your support.

Most roofers in DFW are more than happy to knock on your door or reach out after a storm event, but then they disappear only to reappear when that next storm hits. For every roofing system we replace, we provide complimentary annual maintenance where we have both marketing and maintenance plans in place. We look forward to seeing you each year and keeping our relationships fresh.

For our water losses, we have prepared educational documents and support you as the homeowner every step of the way. Given the risk for additional damage from mold if not treated properly, we work with our team of engineers and mitigation professionals to document everything for a smoother claims handling process.

Be Good

We take pride in our work and provide the best warranties in the business. Our goal is to earn your trust so that we become the ones you call and refer when an unexpected event happens.

We also go above and beyond to educate ourselves continually whether via industry certifications or applicable licenses. We are always learning and becoming better. We appreciate when you partner with us and provide feedback regarding the solution(s). In construction, as much as most anything, it takes a village. When we all work together, the end product is much better and we all feel much more accomplished.

We look forward to building a lifetime relationship with you. Thank you in advance for trusting us as your reconstruction partners!

Matt "Vinnie" Alva

Owner

G3 Knows was born out of turning lemons into lemonade… and maybe adding a little jalapeño for extra kick.

Matt holds a joint Master’s Degree in Business and Healthcare Administration and spent over 15 years as a hospital and healthcare executive— suit, tie, meetings, the whole deal.

Then came COVID. Suddenly unemployed and armed with way too much energy, Matt channeled his inner renaissance man—baking homemade bread, making jam for neighbors, and fixing anything with a motor, hinge, or loose screw.

One thing led to another (as it usually does with Matt), and G3 was born. Today, he leads a team just as passionate about relationships, growth, and community as he is. G3 isn’t just a business—it’s a mission to support, teach, and serve.

When he’s not steering the G3 ship or adding more acronyms to his title, Matt’s usually chasing adventure—whether that’s traveling with his family, tackling Ironman triathlons, or racing through the desert (and yes, he’s still faster than JD). He loves seeing his team crush their goals—financially, personally, and as families… though he’s still working on loving the paperwork part

JD Swenson - G3 Knows COO

JD "Coach" Swenson

Chief Executive Officer

Part operations wizard, part adventure junkie, JD Swenson brings 14+ years of experience in construction and real estate development to G3 Roofing & Construction—and he's just getting warmed up.

Before joining G3, JD served as Senior VP at one of the nation’s largest debt funds, overseeing multifamily and hospitality projects like a boss (because he was one). His career kicked off in construction finance with none other than Goldman Sachs and Fortress Investment Group, so yeah, he knows a thing or two about managing big-time projects and even bigger spreadsheets.

JD’s secret weapon? A rare combo of operational discipline and people-first leadership—meaning he can optimize a construction timeline and remember your kid’s name. He’s known for streamlining chaos into clean systems and building relationships that last longer than your average roof warranty.

When he’s not running the show at G3, JD is a full-time family man with three amazing kids, a wife who somehow still laughs at his dad jokes, and a side hustle as a Baja racing team driver (yes, seriously). Add in some rugged backpacking adventures and active church leadership, and you've got a guy who doesn’t just lead—he lives full throttle.

JD is a licensed Insurance Adjuster, Certified Appraiser (CPAU), and our Fire and Water Restoration Expert.

Profile 1

Jason "The Prodigy" Cook

Executive Director of Operation & Project Manager

Jason Cook keeps G3 running like a well-oiled machine – or maybe a finely tuned guitar. With over 11 years of experience in catastrophic loss resolution, Jason has been the go-to-guy when things go sideways.

He specializes in complex water and fire damage projects, working hand-in-hand with clients and insurance providers to make sure every repair is done right – and with integrity (because shortcuts aren't his style).

These days, Jason focuses on the reconstruction side of the industry, where his attention to detail, insurance expertise, and calm-under-pressure approach help homeowners and businesses rebuild stronger than before

Outside of work, Jason's a man of many talents. He's been known to pick up a mic or guitar (or any of the eight instruments he somehow plays) for a spontaneous jam session at local clubs.

When he's not rocking out, he's giving back – serving as President of the Reed Elementary PTA and Vice President of the Allen ISD Council of PTAs, where he champions kids, community, and creativity.

If there's music, a project to tackle, or a cause worth supporting – Jason's already there. Probably with a tool in one hand and a guitar pick in the other.

Nick "MitSteamy" Dennett

CMDR Restoration Manager

Nick Dennett brings over a decade of elite experience to the restoration world — 12 years as a U.S. Army Special Operations veteran and now a licensed Public Adjuster in multiple states. He’s the kind of guy who can lead a mission, fix a flood, and still look camera-ready doing it.

Known locally as “MitSteamy”, Nick runs CMDR Restoration, where professionalism, precision, and accountability are standard issue. His military background instilled the discipline, integrity, and no-excuses attitude that define his work today. Whether it’s water damage, mold mitigation, or structural drying, Nick’s the guy who makes sure the job gets done — and done right.

In his so-called “spare time,” he’s still learning, training, and pressing the envelope through advanced industry courses — because apparently, rest isn’t part of his vocabulary.
When he’s not on a mission for G3 or CMDR, Nick’s all about family. His wife (a Dental Hygienist with the patience of a saint) and their creative young son — who’s already set on becoming a dragon when he grows up — keep him grounded and laughing.

Disciplined, dedicated, and maybe just a little too good at everything he tries, Nick lives by the same values he served with: integrity, growth, and service — with a touch of steam.

Abby Bright

Administrative Assistant

Abby Bright keeps the wheels turning at G3 as our go-to administrative powerhouse. With a sharp eye for detail and a heart for client service, she brings energy, efficiency, and just the right amount of caffeine to every project.

Originally from Flower Mound, Texas, Abby now calls Aubrey home, where she lives with her husband and their two young daughters—ages 3 and 1—who ensure she never forgets the true meaning of multitasking.

Abby earned her bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in English as a Second Language from the University of North Texas. She spent four years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher before making the leap into real estate and construction—where the projects are big, the deadlines are tight, and the clients (thankfully) don’t need snack time.

When she’s not keeping G3 organized and clients happy, you’ll find Abby running for fun (yes, really), particularly in events like the Ragnar 200-mile relay race. She’s also an avid reader, a dedicated Dallas Stars fan, a park connoisseur with her kids, and always planning her family’s next great adventure.

Abby is thrilled to be part of the G3 team, where she brings her signature mix of enthusiasm, organization, and humor to every task—along with the occasional well-timed dad joke.

"I CAN'T PRAISE G3 ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION ENOUGH!
After a storm caused the aluminum trim on my house's siding to completely detach, I reached out to several roofing companies for quotes to replace it.

G3 was the only company that came out, inspected the damage, and provided me with a reasonable quote. Their team was courteous and consistently responsive to my inquiries and concerns. They truly went above and beyond, and I am incredibly grateful for their exceptional service."

Licenses and Certifications

Licensed General Contractor (UT #14237938-5501 R100,S280)

A true licensed general contractor in the state of Texas is exceptionally rare. Texas allows general contractors to operate without a statewide license, relying instead on local registrations and licensed subcontractors for regulated trades. While this system lowers barriers to entry, it can create uncertainty for clients evaluating contractor qualifications.

Utah, by contrast, requires contractors to meet formal education, experience, examination, insurance, and application requirements before receiving a license. This creates a more regulated and standardized system that helps ensure contractors meet professional and financial responsibility standards.

For this reason, we chose to obtain a Utah General Contractor license, demonstrating our commitment to operating within a recognized regulatory framework and maintaining professional construction standards.

HAAG Engineering Residential and Commercial Certifications

haag

The HAAG Engineering Certified Inspector – Master Level certification represents one of the highest levels of professional credentialing in the field of forensic engineering and damage assessment. Issued by HAAG Global, the certification is awarded to inspectors who have completed advanced training and extensive field experience in evaluating structural and property damage, particularly related to roof systems, weather events, and catastrophic losses such as hail, wind, and storm damage. The Master designation signifies that the individual has progressed beyond standard certification by demonstrating deep technical knowledge, continued education, and a proven history of accurate damage evaluation. This credential is widely respected across the construction, insurance, and engineering industries because it ensures inspections are performed using scientifically validated methods and industry-recognized standards. Holding the HAAG Master certification signals a commitment to precision, credibility, and expert-level analysis, making it an important qualification for professionals responsible for determining damage causation, scope of repair, and construction integrity

IICRC WRT (Water Restoration)

iicrc

The IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification is a widely recognized credential that demonstrates professional training in the proper assessment, mitigation, and restoration of water-damaged structures. Issued by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the WRT certification provides technicians with the knowledge needed to identify categories and classes of water damage, implement safe drying methods, and prevent secondary damage such as mold growth or structural deterioration. The program emphasizes industry-standard restoration procedures, moisture detection techniques, and health and safety practices used in both residential and commercial environments. Because water intrusion can quickly compromise building materials and indoor air quality, the IICRC WRT certification is considered a foundational credential in the restoration industry, ensuring that professionals are trained to follow recognized scientific drying principles and professional standards when responding to water loss events.

IICRC AMRT (Advanced Mold Restoration)

iicrc

The IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) certification is an advanced credential that verifies specialized training in the inspection, containment, and remediation of microbial contamination, including mold and other harmful microorganisms in buildings. Issued by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the AMRT certification builds on foundational restoration knowledge and focuses on the safe and effective removal of microbial growth resulting from water intrusion, humidity, or environmental conditions. The training covers containment procedures, negative air systems, personal protective equipment (PPE), and proper cleaning and removal of contaminated materials in accordance with industry standards and safety guidelines. The AMRT certification is highly respected within the restoration and environmental remediation industries because it confirms that a professional has the expertise to address microbial hazards while protecting occupant health, structural integrity, and indoor air quality. Holding this certification demonstrates a commitment to scientifically supported remediation practices and professional restoration standards

IICRC FSRT (Fire Restoration)

iicrc

The IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) certification is a professional credential that verifies specialized training in the cleanup, restoration, and odor remediation of structures damaged by fire and smoke. Issued by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the FSRT program teaches technicians how to properly assess fire damage, identify smoke residues, and apply appropriate cleaning and deodorization techniques to restore affected materials and environments. The certification covers fire behavior, types of smoke residues, restoration methods for structural materials and contents, and the use of specialized equipment for odor control and air purification. Because fire damage often involves complex contamination and structural risks, the FSRT certification is widely recognized within the restoration and insurance industries as proof that a professional is trained to follow established restoration standards and safety protocols. Holding this certification demonstrates expertise in returning fire-damaged properties to safe, functional conditions while protecting indoor air quality and building integrity

Administered by Verisk, this certification confirms that the holder has mastered the ability to create complex, highly detailed construction and restoration estimates, including the use of advanced sketching, macros, line-item management, and project organization within the software. Level 3 represents the highest certification tier available for Xactimate users, indicating a strong understanding of industry-standard pricing databases, insurance estimating methodologies, and accurate scope development for property damage claims. Professionals with Xactimate Level 3 certification are recognized for their ability to produce precise, professional-grade estimates that align with insurance carrier standards, making the credential highly valued across the construction, restoration, and insurance adjusting sectors

Insurance Related Expertise

In Texas, the Unlicensed Practice of Public Adjusting (UPPA) is governed by the Texas Insurance Code and enforced by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Public adjusters are professionals who represent policyholders in preparing, negotiating, or settling insurance claims for compensation, and Texas law requires that anyone performing these services hold a valid Public Adjuster license. Performing these duties without proper licensing is considered the Unlicensed Practice of Public Adjusting, which can lead to fines, penalties, or other enforcement actions. The purpose of these regulations is to protect consumers and maintain fairness in the claims process, ensuring that only qualified and regulated professionals are allowed to interpret policy coverage, advocate for settlement amounts, or negotiate directly with insurance carriers on behalf of a policyholder.

For contractors and restoration professionals, Texas law requires a clear separation between construction services and insurance claim representation. Contractors are permitted to inspect property damage, prepare repair estimates, document construction-related issues, and explain the scope of necessary repairs, but they cannot interpret insurance policies or negotiate claim settlements unless they are licensed public adjusters. However, experienced contractors often have a strong understanding of the insurance restoration process. Our knowledge of the claims process allows us to use professional estimating tools and industry-standard formats to prepare detailed repair scopes and damage documentation. This ensures we are communicating effectively with your claims specialist while remaining fully compliant with Texas regulations, allowing the insurance carrier and licensed adjusters to evaluate the claim while we focus on accurate repair planning and professional restoration services.

American Policyholder Association (APA)

apa-logo

The American Policyholders Association (APA) is a national advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights of property insurance policyholders and promoting fairness within the insurance claims process. Its purpose is to support transparency, accountability, and ethical standards in the handling of property damage claims by providing education, research, and policyholder-focused resources to industry professionals and the public. The organization works to highlight best practices in damage assessment, claims documentation, and policyholder protection, helping ensure that claims are evaluated accurately and in accordance with established standards. Being a Professional Member of the American Policyholders Association signifies a commitment to ethical conduct, continuing education, and responsible participation in the insurance restoration and claims environment. It reflects a dedication to maintaining professional integrity, accurate documentation practices, and fair communication with all parties involved in the claims process, while supporting the broader mission of protecting policyholder interests and improving industry accountability.

Licensed/Bonded Insurance & Public Adjuster

Having the knowledge and background of an experienced and licensed Public Adjuster provides valuable insight into how the insurance claims process functions, including how claims are documented, evaluated, and reviewed by insurance carriers. Public adjusters are trained to understand policy structure, damage documentation, estimating methodology, and the procedural flow of property claims, which allows professionals with this background to better recognize how insurers analyze damage and determine repair scopes. This experience helps develop a strong understanding of industry-standard estimating platforms, loss documentation practices, and the communication protocols typically used between contractors, adjusters, and claims specialists. As a result, professionals with this knowledge are often better equipped to prepare clear, organized construction estimates and damage documentation that align with the formats and terminology commonly used within the insurance industry.

However, it is important to emphasize that Texas law strictly regulates public adjusting activities. Under the Texas Insurance Code, contractors or restoration professionals who are not acting in the capacity of a licensed public adjuster within the state are prohibited from representing a policyholder, negotiating claim settlements, interpreting insurance policy coverage, or advocating for claim payments on behalf of the insured. Because of these regulations, we do not engage in any adjuster-related or representation-specific activities in Texas. Our role is limited to providing construction expertise, accurate repair estimates, and detailed documentation of property damage. While our familiarity with the insurance claims process helps us prepare information in a way that supports clear communication with your claims specialist, all claim decisions, coverage determinations, and settlement negotiations remain strictly between the policyholder, the insurance carrier, and any appropriately licensed adjuster. This approach ensures full compliance with Texas law while allowing us to focus on professional restoration planning and accurate scope development.

IAUA Certified Appraiser & Umpire

The CPAU (Certified Property Appraiser and Umpire) designation, issued by the International Association of Umpires and Appraisers (IAUA), reflects specialized training and knowledge in the insurance appraisal process used to resolve property damage claim disputes. The appraisal process is a formal dispute resolution method commonly outlined in property insurance policies that allows disagreements regarding the amount of loss or scope of damage to be resolved without litigation. When invoked, each party—typically the policyholder and the insurance carrier—selects a qualified appraiser, and those appraisers jointly select a neutral umpire. Together, they review documentation, damage assessments, and repair estimates to determine a fair and impartial valuation of the loss. The CPAU certification signifies that the individual has received professional education in appraisal procedures, ethical standards, dispute resolution practices, and property damage valuation, making them qualified to participate in this structured process.

The appraisal process plays an important role in the insurance claims system because it provides a faster, less adversarial alternative to court proceedings when disputes arise over repair costs or damage scope. By relying on trained appraisers and a neutral umpire, appraisal helps ensure that property losses are evaluated using objective documentation, industry-standard estimating methods, and impartial review. Holding the CPAU designation demonstrates a commitment to understanding the technical and procedural aspects of appraisal, including how to properly analyze damage, evaluate repair estimates, and follow the professional guidelines established for appraisal proceedings. This knowledge supports accurate loss evaluation and promotes fair, transparent dispute resolution within the property insurance industry.

Licensed Mold Remedication Contractor (TDLR #2216)

The Texas Mold Remediation Contractor (MRC) license is a professional credential issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) that authorizes qualified individuals or companies to perform mold remediation work in residential and commercial structures. Because mold contamination can present serious health risks and structural concerns, Texas law requires that mold remediation be conducted only by licensed professionals who have received specialized training in proper containment, removal, and remediation procedures. To obtain this license, contractors must meet specific requirements including approved training, examination, insurance coverage, and adherence to strict state regulations governing mold remediation practices. These standards are designed to ensure that remediation work is performed using scientifically recognized methods that protect occupant health, prevent cross-contamination, and properly restore affected building materials.

The importance of a Texas Mold Remediation Contractor license lies in its role in protecting both property owners and building occupants. Licensed contractors are trained to follow state-mandated protocols, including proper containment systems, air filtration, personal protective equipment (PPE), and post-remediation verification procedures. Texas law also requires a separation between mold assessment and mold remediation services, preventing conflicts of interest and ensuring that remediation work is performed based on an independent assessment of contamination. Holding the MRC license demonstrates a commitment to regulatory compliance, environmental safety, and professional remediation standards, ensuring that mold-related issues are addressed effectively while safeguarding indoor air quality and the long-term integrity of the structure.
