This yard transformation will truly blow your mind. We still can't believe how good it looks.
If you haven't seen it yet, go watch our full yard transformation with zoysia sod reel. Go ahead, we'll wait. Pretty great, right?
Here's the thing nobody sees in a 30-second video: a lot of prep work went into that job before we could lay a single piece of sod. That's what makes a transformation last. So let's pull back the curtain and walk through how it actually comes together.
What Goes Into a Full Yard Transformation?
A real transformation isn't just unrolling new grass on top of the old mess. On jobs like this, the work usually goes in this order:
- Cleanup. Clear out leaves, debris, dead grass and anything that doesn't belong.
- Irrigation and drainage. Repair or add irrigation, and fix drainage so water goes where it should. North Texas clay doesn't forgive bad drainage.
- Grading and soil prep. Remove old turf, level the ground and get the soil ready for new roots.
- Sod install. Lay the sod tight, with seams staggered like brickwork.
- Watering and care. Get new sod established in those first weeks.
- The first mow. The best day of the whole project. Stripes!
Skip any of the first three steps and the "after" photo won't look nearly as good in six months.
Why Zoysia Sod?
Zoysia is a favorite for a lot of North Texas homeowners, and it's easy to see why:
- Dense and soft. It makes a thick, carpet-like lawn that feels great barefoot.
- Handles heat. It's a warm-season grass built for Texas summers.
- Tolerates some shade better than many other warm-season grasses.
- Looks sharp mowed. It holds stripes beautifully.
It's not the only good choice. We've also installed St. Augustine, like on a side yard job in Flower Mound where the client specifically wanted it. The right grass depends on sun, shade, foot traffic and how you use your yard. We'll help you understand the options.
How Long Does Sod Take to Look Good?
Faster than you'd think, if it's cared for right. Check out our photo set of new sod 14 days after install. Swipe through it. It's a little ridiculous how quick it greens up. Our guide to new sod care for the first two weeks walks through exactly what to do while it roots in.
How Big Can a Sod Job Get?
Big. How about 50 pallets? Watch our 50-pallet sod install. The sod turned out great and completely transformed the property. That kind of job takes planning, a good crew and some heavy equipment. Our mini skid has been a game changer, and it makes the work a lot more fun.
What About a Whole-Property Overhaul?
Some yards need everything. One of our Argyle properties got leaf and debris cleanup, irrigation repair, new irrigation, sod, a French drain, a gravel driveway and a drainage river. Watch the full Argyle project breakdown. If your yard has drainage trouble, our guide to yard drainage solutions covers it.
Is My Yard a Good Candidate for a Transformation?
Probably! Signs you're ready:
- Patchy, thin or weedy grass you've been fighting for years.
- Bare spots where nothing grows.
- Standing water or erosion after rain.
- You're selling and want curb appeal.
- You just want to love your yard again.
What's the Most Fun Part?
Honestly? The before and after. And watching a client walk out the front door and see it for the first time. That never gets old. This is why we do what we do.
